Larisa’s journey started when she was introduced to the wonderful world of jewelry making in one of her undergraduate classes. Since then, she fell in love with this art discipline and decided to make this her career. She went eventually to do a master in fashion management and marketing to have a solid foundation for what today is MADÚ. She is currently the designer and maker of all of MADU’s pieces.

Larisa Criado, the designer and maker of MADU’s pieces was initially inspired by Parure jewelry* and Art Deco Architecture. She wanted to mesh the idea of modern designs with interchangeable mechanisms to create new and revolutionary pieces of jewelry.

Parure jewelry was invented in the early 19th century and featured a combination of matching necklace, earrings and bracelet that were not a static set but rather the necklace could be temporarily disassembled and re-assembled into a bracelet or hair ornament with interchangeable components or mechanisms.

So, MADÚ was born, from the passionate determination to bring affordable and functional jewelry to hardworking women that have an “always on the move” lifestyle, this way they can be always be comfortable and fashionable.

The jewelry is designed with this mindset and therefore features uniquely designed mechanisms that make it easier to customize your pieces for your own style in your own time.
We also must highlight that all the designs and production are made locally in our studio in Spain making sure that we keep sustainability in mind. We use ECO-silver as our main material, as well as Swarovski certified gems and recycled packaging.

We are part of the slow fashion movement which advocates for manufacturing in respect to people environment and animals. So we include eco-friendly materials and make sure to preserve the craft and protect the environment to provide value to both the consumers and producers in all the value chain.
